Hold the Cheese, Please

I just looked at an album of my cousin's engagement photos online. The photos were really well done, unique, kind of old fashioned looking, simple, yet very cool. Maybe some of the best I've seen. Most of them made me smile-- it was really great to see this cousin, one of my best friends growing up, so happy next to his beautiful, blushing, bride-to-be. Key word of last sentence: 'most'. Regardless of the tastefulness of the majority of the pictures, some of them just seemed cheeeeeeesy. I'm pretty sure every single one that most girls would audibly go, "Awwwwwwwww" at, made me silently think, "Blechhhhh!"

What's wrong with me? Am I missing some key female gene that processes these things as "cute" instead of "cheesy" ? It's hard for me to think of a single romantic movie that I really enjoy. Most of the time at the end of a romantic film all I can think about is desperately wanting the last 2 hours of my life back. [A few classic romances aside, i.e. Pride & Prejudice. That is the only romantic movie that has ever actually made me cry out of happiness]. When I see couples being all canoodly [yes I just turned 'canoodle' into an adjective] and cute, I throw up a little in my mouth. I curse them under my breath and hate them for not being able to un-see what I just saw. No one wants to see that! Do that on your own time. Stop impeding on mine!

Alright. Ranting a bit I suppose. I do appreciate romance. I do have a heart and I am a female. I can be wooed and wowed and awed and amazed. It just must be done tastefully. Simply. Thoughtfully. But for FSM's sake, not cheesily.
